Overview

Even if your personal car runs on gasoline, it’s a fact that the whole world runs on diesel. Think about it: the heavy-duty farm equipment that helped harvest your food, the big-rig that transports it, and the cargo ships that ship it overseas all run on diesel engines. Diesel mechanics have the responsibility to understand how these machines work, and how to use the resources available to keep them running. As products move and companies grow, the demand for diesel specialists increases, making it a fantastic prospective field for anyone interested in transportation technologies.

TMCC offers a Transportation Technologies AAS degree with diesel emphasis. Our diesel program complies with national NC3 and JPRO certification standards, and prepares you to learn the basic skills to become successful at diesel repair shops nationwide.

What Will I Study?

This program starts with an introductory course to help you learn how to navigate a shop environment and familiarize you with hand tool usage. The program then progresses through all aspects of Diesel Technology and prepares students for entry-level positions in many different industries. Advanced students will be able to disassemble and reassemble a diesel engine completely, and remove and reinstall transmissions from different vehicles.

Smaller class sizes ensure that you will get more one-on-one instruction from instructors, and all courses are offered in-person, to make sure that all students receive proper training that will directly translate to the work they will be doing in an industry setting. Class offerings are also rotated in three different time slots (morning, afternoon and evening) so you can complete a degree on a consistent schedule.
